Why do I have profuse sweating on my scalp when it is hot out?

I don’t have profuse sweating anywhere else on my body during the summer, except my scalp…my hair gets soaking wet and looks awful. Embarrasing when I am out all dressed up. Why is it that it is only the scalp and is there anything I can do about it?

Possibly because most body heat is lost through the head. This is why people wear hats in winter.

Sweating is a cooling mechanism, as when it evaporated, it cools you down (something to do with the energy required to make it change state).

I think that the doctor may be able to prescribe a cream or something, but that may not be suitable as your scalp is covered in hair.

Don’t forget to drink lots of water, otherwise you’ll get dehydrated.
